How I Hit My Goal Without a Vision Board.

2026 Issue #1

How to Make this the Year You Win

From: Nikki Leary I nikki@rootfornew.com

Hi Reader,

I spent the weekend snowshoeing and sledding in below-freezing Wisconsin weather. I’ve heard mindset is important for surviving winter here… and honestly, I’m still working on that. ❄️

While I work on that, let’s talk about something I am good at: achieving goals.

Statistically, most people have already given up on their New Year’s resolution by mid-January. If that’s you, this might be the note you needed to read today.

A few years ago, I proudly told a friend I was going to become a bodybuilder. Now that I’ve done it, it seems normal — but back then I was a size 14, and the goal seemed… far off.

Here’s the truth: I hit my goal. And even if you don't want to be a bodybuilder, here's some tips you can adopt to achieve your goal this year — no vision board required.

📱 Keep your goal top of mind. I used my phone addiction to help me. I put a photo of myself in a dress from our honeymoon as my phone screensaver. Every time I picked up my phone I got a small reminder of what I was working toward.

Maybe you want more energy. Do you have a picture of yourself fully energized that would motivate you not to stop until you get the answer your body is looking for? Put it somewhere you'll see every day as a reminder of your goal.

🎵Mind what you're consuming. I swapped out random music or podcasts for ones that pumped me up or gave me tools to succeed. Personally, I love Fearless Motivation to keep me pumped but find something that works for you.

👥Don't rely on an accountability partner. I know, accountability partners are great. But I didn’t rely on a single person to keep me motivated. At different points I hired coaches, trainers, paid for gym memberships, and extra fitness classes where I met inspiring people. But the drive to show up? That came from me.

🆘Get real help when you need it.
Why spin your wheels when a professional can help get you there faster? If your goal is health-related, here’s how I can help:

  • Test your minerals. Stop guessing why you struggle with low energy, stubborn weight, or burnout. Take this test from home using just a teaspoon of hair. Each Mineral Test comes with a free Personalized Nutrition Assessment. Learn More.
  • Personalized Nutrition Assessment. Let’s meet for 45 minutes to discuss your unique health goals. I’ll review your food journal, symptoms, and recommend foods, lifestyle changes, and supplements that could support you. 50% off with code NEWYEAR if you book before January 31. Book now.

This year, don’t just make a resolution. Make it real, no Pinterest Vision Board required!

2025 Issue #51 How to Let Go of What No Longer Serves You Before the New Year From: Nikki Leary I nikki@rootfornew.com Hi Reader, We've officially reached the in-between. That quiet stretch between Christmas and New Year's where no one knows what day it is and eating chocolate before 9am somehow feels...acceptable. This is the week where big projects politely wait their turn, productivity loosens its grip, and our bodies finally get a little of the rest they've been asking for all year. And...

2025 Issue #50 What the Winter Solstice Teaches Us About Healing From: Nikki Leary I nikki@rootfornew.com Hi Reader, Last night marked the winter solstice — the longest night of the year. That means that starting today, the days get a little longer. Slowly. Gently. Day by day we get more light. Winter still has a lot to say (the blowing snow and ice on my front steps make that very clear), but there’s comfort in knowing we’ve already passed the darkest point. Out here on the farm, winter...

2025 Issue #49 Support Yourself with a Reiki Session this Holiday Season! From: Nikki Leary I nikki@rootfornew.com Hi Reader, This weekend in Wisconsin was cold. Like… below -10 degrees cold. Cold enough that we brought the ducks into the garage so they wouldn’t freeze. 🪿 And in the middle of that stillness — bundled up, tea in hand, ducks settled into a warm home — I received my Reiki Master certificate. Adding another tool for helping people come back to balance brings me so much joy. If...
