Why Small Healthy Choices Matter More Than Big Changes

From Cornfield to Flower Garden: A Story About Growth and Transformation

Hi Reader,

I was walking through the U-pick flower and tea garden this week when I noticed something I'd never seen there before.

A hummingbird.

It hovered from flower to flower for just a few seconds before disappearing into the trees.

I stood there smiling because a thought immediately crossed my mind...

A few years ago this was just a cornfield.

There weren't rows of flowers and herbs with beautiful archways.

There weren't butterflies floating through the garden or bees buzzing from bloom to bloom.

Honestly, when I first started the garden, I was excited just to find an earthworm. 🪱

And now...there's a hummingbird.

It reminded me how slowly transformation really works.

Most days, it doesn't feel like much is happening.

You make just one small change from your routine.

You choose salad over chips.

You take a walk instead of watching TV.

You cook at home instead of going out to dinner.

Those little choices don't usually feel life-changing.

In fact, they can feel a little... ordinary.

But they add up.

One day you look back and realize you've built something you couldn't see while you were living it.

Where were you a few years ago?

What do you have today that you dreamed up years ago?

This week is especially meaningful for our family because we're officially opening the U-pick flower and tea garden we've been dreaming about for years.

It's hard to believe that something which once existed in our late-night porch conversations, is now filled with flowers, herbs, butterflies... and even hummingbirds.

If you're in Central Wisconsin, I'd love you to celebrate with us at our Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, July 14.

🌸 You can see all of our upcoming events here.

And whether your own transformation is happening in a garden, your health, your career, or somewhere else entirely...

Keep planting the seeds.

You may not notice the change today.

But one day, you'll look up...and see your own hummingbird.

xo,

Nikki Leary

2026 Issue #36 What My Dog’s Anxiety Taught Me About Minerals Hi Reader, Quite to my surprise, a few weeks ago, on what was already a busy Sunday, two very large Great Pyrenees came running up our driveway. My first thought? THE CHICKENS. I immediately ran outside, ready to protect the chickens and ducks from whatever adventure these two dogs had planned. Except they didn't run toward the chickens. They ran straight to me. They were friendly, tired and very clearly lost. So we brought them...

2026 Issue #35 Why healthy fats belong on your salad Hi Reader, Quick question... If you eat a big salad loaded with fresh vegetables... ...but it's covered in salad dressing... Is it still healthy? The answer might surprise you. Absolutely! In fact, adding the right kind of dressing can actually help your body absorb more of the nutrients in those vegetables. Here's why. Your body uses vitamins for hundreds of jobs every single day—from supporting your immune system and healthy vision to...

2026 Issue #34 Sometimes “moving on” isn’t the same as letting go. Hi Reader, Recently, I was working with a client who was struggling with poor circulation in his legs. During our session, I kept getting a very specific—and seemingly random—impression. “Did you ever work in construction?” I asked him. He looked surprised. Yes. He had. I told him what I was sensing: “I keep seeing your legs taking you somewhere you didn't want to go. You went because you had to, but your heart wasn't in it....
